Maxxmar BetterFit:
The Inside-Mount Solution for Any Window
Shallow reveal? No reveal at all? BetterFit blinds mount directly to the window sash — no wall depth required. Cellular, roller, and dual shade options, 100% Made in Canada. By ECO Glass Windows And Doors, official Maxxmar authorized dealer.
What Is Maxxmar BetterFit?
Maxxmar BetterFit is a blind mounting system that solves a problem most window covering categories can’t address: windows that don’t have enough reveal depth for a standard inside-mount installation. The BetterFit system attaches directly to the window sash — the inner frame — with a minimal-projection bracket, eliminating the reveal depth requirement entirely.
The result is a blind that sits inside the window opening, flush with the glass, with none of the visual bulk of an outside-mount installation and none of the mounting constraints of a standard inside mount. For homes where energy-efficient window systems have pushed frame profiles deeper into the reveal, or where new construction has created windows with virtually no usable depth, BetterFit is not a workaround — it’s the right product for the window.
Maxxmar BetterFit blinds are 100% made in Canada, cordless as standard, and available in four blind configurations. ECO Glass Windows And Doors supplies and installs the full BetterFit range across the Greater Toronto Area.

The Shallow Reveal Problem — And Why Standard Blinds Don’t Solve It
Window reveal depth is the distance between the face of the interior wall and the glass. In older construction, reveals of 3.5″ to 5″ or more were common — enough room for almost any inside-mount blind or shade to install cleanly within the frame. In newer construction, that depth has shrunk. Energy-efficient window systems with deeper frame profiles, casement windows with crank mechanisms in the sill, and flush-frame architectural designs have created a generation of windows where the usable reveal depth is 1″ or less — and in many cases, zero.
Standard Inside Mount Won’t Fit
Most inside-mount roller shades, cellular shades, and dual shades require a minimum reveal depth of 2.5″ to 3.5″ for the cassette and mounting hardware to clear the window frame. Windows with less depth than that simply cannot accommodate standard inside-mount hardware — the cassette hits the wall before it can be fastened to the frame.
BetterFit Mounts to the Sash
BetterFit’s bracket system attaches to the window sash itself — the moving frame of the window — with a minimal projection that works regardless of reveal depth. The blind sits inside the opening, integrated with the window, with no wall mounting required and no minimum reveal depth constraint.
The alternative in a shallow-reveal window is an outside mount — but outside mounting covers the window trim, projects the blind into the room, and creates a visually heavier result that reads as a functional compromise rather than a considered design decision. For windows where inside mounting is the correct visual outcome, BetterFit makes it possible regardless of the reveal depth available.
BetterFit is specified by window sash dimensions rather than reveal depth — the blind is sized to the inner frame opening. ECO Glass Windows And Doors measures every window in person before placing any BetterFit order. Sash dimensions on newer windows often differ from the nominal window size on builder drawings, and even small measurement differences matter when the blind is mounted directly to the frame.
Four BetterFit Blind Configurations
Maxxmar BetterFit is available in four distinct blind types — each one addressing a different combination of light control, privacy, and operating requirements. The BetterFit mounting system is the same across all four; the choice of blind type is driven by how the window is used and what the room needs from its window covering.
Cellular Day/Night
Dual-cell construction with alternating opaque and sheer cells. Operating the blind shifts between a sheer daytime configuration — light filtering, private from direct outside view — and a fully opaque nighttime position. Insulating honeycomb cells on both layers add thermal performance to a window that may already be energy-efficient by design.
Cellular TDBU
Top Down Bottom Up cellular shade — the blind can be lowered from the top, raised from the bottom, or set at any combination in between. Cover the lower half for street-level privacy while letting natural light in from above. The honeycomb cell structure insulates and diffuses light simultaneously.
Dual Shade
Alternating opaque and sheer horizontal fabric stripes that shift to align open or closed. In the open position, the sheer stripes align and the window remains visible through the fabric. In the closed position, the opaque stripes cover the glass completely. Clean contemporary look in a BetterFit mounting that works regardless of reveal depth.
Roller Shade
A clean rolling mechanism in light filtering or room darkening fabric, now available in a BetterFit mount for shallow-reveal windows. The roller shade’s simplicity — one fabric, one movement, one purpose — is fully preserved in the BetterFit system. No cassette projection into a reveal that doesn’t have room for it.
BetterFit Cellular Day/Night
The BetterFit Cellular Day/Night blind is built on a dual-cell honeycomb construction — two layers of cellular fabric, one opaque and one sheer, that alternate as you operate the blind. Lower the blind to the daytime position and the sheer cells align with the window, diffusing light and providing privacy from direct outside views while keeping the room bright. Lower further to the nighttime position and the opaque cells take over, blocking light transmission and providing complete visual privacy.
The honeycomb cell structure on both layers does more than control light — it traps air in the cells, creating an insulating buffer between the warm room and the cold glass surface. For shallow-reveal windows that are often part of energy-efficient window systems, adding a cellular blind inside the frame compounds the thermal performance the window itself was specified to deliver.

BetterFit Cellular TDBU — Top Down Bottom Up
The BetterFit Cellular TDBU operates independently from both the top and the bottom. Lower the top rail to bring the blind down from above — natural light from the upper window comes in while the lower portion remains covered. Raise the bottom rail to push the blind up from below — street-level views are blocked while the upper portion of the window remains open. Set both rails at any intermediate position for a fully customized light and privacy configuration.
This is particularly valuable in windows that face the street or a neighbour — where privacy at eye level matters but blocking all natural light from a south-facing window doesn’t make sense. The TDBU configuration is the most versatile light management option in the BetterFit range, and the BetterFit mounting system makes it available on windows that no other TDBU product could previously reach.
Top Down — Light from Above
Bottom Up — Privacy at Street Level
Mid-Window — Custom Position
BetterFit Cellular TDBU is cordless — both the top and bottom rails are operated by gentle hand pressure. There are no cords, no wands, and no chains anywhere on the blind. Both rails move independently and lock at any position. The cordless TDBU mechanism meets current North American child safety standards.
BetterFit Dual Shade
The BetterFit Dual Shade brings the alternating-stripe mechanism of a standard zebra or dual shade to windows that previously had no inside-mount option. The fabric alternates between opaque and sheer horizontal bands — shifting the fabric up or down aligns the open sheer bands or the closed opaque bands with the glass, transitioning the window between a view-through position and a privacy position.
For living spaces where view preservation matters — a window that faces a garden, a streetscape, or a natural feature — the Dual Shade in BetterFit configuration delivers the same clean contemporary look as a standard dual shade installation, fitted precisely inside a window that a standard cassette could never reach.
Open — Sheer Stripes Aligned
Transitioning — Partial Privacy
Closed — Opaque Stripes Aligned
BetterFit Roller Shade
The BetterFit Roller Shade is the most straightforward product in the range — a clean rolling mechanism in light filtering or room darkening fabric, mounted inside any window regardless of reveal depth. Where a standard roller shade cassette requires wall mounting hardware and a minimum depth to clear the frame, the BetterFit roller shade brackets attach to the sash and the shade rolls within the opening itself.
For windows where simplicity and clean operation are the priority — and where the reveal depth makes a standard inside mount impossible — the BetterFit Roller Shade delivers exactly that. Available across a broad fabric range: solar screen openness factors for view-priority windows, light filtering for soft diffuse light, and room darkening for bedrooms and home offices where light control matters.
Raised — Full Window Visible
Partial — Light Filtered
Lowered — Privacy Position
BetterFit on Casement Windows
Casement windows are the most common situation where BetterFit becomes the only practical inside-mount option. A casement window swings open on a hinge — typically with a crank mechanism in the sill — and the operating hardware occupies the very depth of reveal that a standard inside-mount blind would need. There is often no usable reveal at all on a casement window.
Standard inside-mount hardware either can’t be fastened without the brackets interfering with the crank, or sits proud of the frame face because there’s no depth to recess it into. Outside mounting is possible but visually disruptive — the blind projects into the room and covers the casement’s trim on all sides. Neither outcome is right for a window that was chosen for its clean profile and energy performance.
BetterFit mounts to the window sash — the moving frame of the casement itself. This means the blind is part of the window, not attached to the surrounding wall. When the casement swings open, the BetterFit blind travels with it, staying integrated with the window rather than remaining fixed while the window moves behind it. It is a materially better result than any wall-mounted alternative for this window type.
Standard Inside Mount
Requires 2.5″–3.5″ reveal depth. Casement windows typically have 0″–1″ of usable depth due to crank hardware and frame profile. Standard inside mount physically cannot fit — brackets have nowhere to go.
Outside Mount
Works technically but covers the trim, projects into the room, and creates a visual bulk that reads as a compromise. For casements where the frame and trim are design features, outside mounting undermines the window’s aesthetic.
BetterFit
Mounts to the sash, travels with the window when it opens, requires no reveal depth, and sits flush inside the frame. The only option that gives a casement window an inside-mount result without the reveal depth a standard mount requires.
Why It Matters
Casement windows are often specified precisely for their clean sight lines and energy performance. BetterFit is the only product that covers them without compromising either — no depth requirement, no outside projection, no wall mounting.
